In the Bible versus the Quran: the Fool is backside, His laziness is SuicideAuthor: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil According to Ecclesiastes 4:5, the Bible talks about a very interesting phenomenon that is the Self-Cannibalism; it is the one which eats his own flesh. The verse says: The fool eats his own flesh or, The fool folds his hands and ruins himself or, The fool sits back, His sloth is slow suicide or, The fool sits back and takes it easy, His sloth is slow suicide.
However, The exact translation of the verse is: The lazy eats his own flesh while he is folding his hand. It should be emphasized that this is the Arabic translation of the verse according to the original Hebrew verse.
In the Language, Lazy means: Indolent Idle Lethargic Languid Slothful Slow-moving Sluggish Energetic is the Antonym of Lazy
On the other hand, the fool is a weak-minded or idiotic person or silly or stupid person or a person who lacks judgment or sense. The fool is the one who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding who acts unwisely on a given occasion.
This verse illustrates the corruption of translation. In New International Version; it is translated as:" The fool folds his hands and ruins himself." It does not say "he eats his own flesh" In The Message; it is translated as:" The fool sits back and takes it easy, His sloth is slow suicide" It does not say "he eats his own flesh" However, the other eight versions say "he eats his own flesh" On the other hand, two versions used words that indicate the meaning of "Lazy", they are The Message which uses "His sloth" and the Amplified Bible which uses " idle hands". However, not all lazy people are fool and not all fool people are lazy. This basic knowledge of the difference between lazy and fool illustrates the corruption of the English translations of the Bible in many Biblical versions. The question is: Do not the Translators of the Bible know the difference between Lazy and Fool?
